Henna Pen

The Henna Pen was an idea I thought for a class project. The project asked students to change the package of a product currently on market to reduce waste. Henna is a type of temporary tattoo. Currently Henna artists put henna paste in a slip of plastic in a cone shape and squeeze the paste out like cake frosting.

We realized that this was wasteful since you couldn't reuse these plastic sheets and they were difficult to use. They limited artists to one size/speed of paste dispensing and were difficult to draw with.

Our product is a combination of a syringe and a mechanical pencil. The artist would suck the paste (or water if you were cleaning it) into the pen like a syringe and then the artist would click the mechanical pen like button to increase the pressure of the paste. This gave artists a feel they were familiar with and a simple way to refill and clean their tools.
